Emmanuel’s journey began in April 2020 when he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at the age of 17. Osteosarcoma is a rare bone cancer that affects children of all ages. At the time of his diagnosis, Emmanuel had no choice but to fight.
His started with weeks of in hospital chemotherapy with a minimum of a 5 day stay, designed to kill as much of the tumor as possible leading up to a procedure know a Rotationplasty, additional chemotherapy, surgeries, and treatments.
Dec 31, 2020, Emmanuel rang the bell to symbolized the completion of chemotherapy. Doctors were optimistic that he was on the road to no evidence of disease. But Emmanuel’s battle was far from over.
Unfortunately, three mouths later, Emmanuel scans determined that the disease had spread to both lungs.
As of Today, Emmanuel has been in the battle for his life for 2 years and 9 months. He is currently on a new clinical trial with hope for continued miracles. Throughout all of the treatments and procedures Emmanuel has never complained and instead provides laughter, hope and support to those around him.
With a desire to help other families as his has been helped Emmanuel established A Different Breed Foundation in 2022.
A Different Breed Foundation provides grants to families affected by childhood cancers. We want to alleviate some of the household burdens by assisting with non-medical bill, like gas, utilities, and mortgages.
